Mia Herman
Biography
Mia Herman is a Jewish writer and editor living in New York. She is the author of the poetry chapbook Until The End of Time (Alien Buddha Press, 2023). Mia holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Hofstra University and her work has appeared in dozens of publications.
What is the relationship between Judaism and/or Jewish culture and your poetry?
There is a Hebrew saying ma’aseh avot siman l’banim which basically means that we should learn from–and draw inspiration from–the experiences, actions, and words of our ancestors. So my faith is ever-present in my writing. It shapes the way I think and speak, and the way I interact with others. Judaism is the lens through which everything in my life comes into focus–including poetry.
