Biography

Amy Eisner is a poet and teacher. At Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) she teaches poetry writing for undergraduates and short nonfiction forms for MFA students writing about their work; she also serves as a poetry editor for Full Bleed. She began teaching writing during her undergraduate studies at Harvard and returned to it while completing a master\\\’s degree in The Writing Seminars at Johns Hopkins. In the interim she was involved in Internet broadcasting, children\\\’s learning online, multimedia authoring tools and writing narrative history. Her poems have appeared in dozens of literary magazines including American Literary Review, Fence and The Journal. She grew up in New Jersey and has lived in NYC, Baltimore and Washington, DC.

What is the relationship between Judaism and/or Jewish culture and your poetry?

My orientation toward language and c0mpulsion to ground the cerebral in the visceral (via poetry) are deeply entwined with my experience of being Jewish.
