Biography

Babo Kamel is the author of a full length collection, What The Days Wanted, Broadstone Books 2022, and a chapbook, After, Finishing Line Press 2018.  A retired educator and social worker, she has taught creative writing to college students, ex-gang members and senior citizens. As a dual citizen, she splits her time between Raleigh, North Carolina and Montreal, Quebec.

Her work has appeared in Best Canadian Poetry 2020, The Greensboro Review, Painted Bride Quarterly, Poet Lore, and Lily Poetry Review among others. She is a six-time Pushcart nominee and a Best of Net nominee. She is the winner of Lilith magazine’s 2011 Charlotte A. Newberger Poetry Prize.
