Jane Schapiro
Biography
Jane Schapiro is the author of three volumes of poetry: the 2020 Nautilus Book Award Silver Winner Warbler (Kelsay Books, 2020), Let The Wind Push Us Across (Antrim House 2017), Tapping This Stone (Washington Writers’ Publishing House Award, 1995) and the nonfiction book Inside a Class Action: The Holocaust and the Swiss Banks (University of Wisconsin, 2003). Her chapbook, Mrs. Cave’s House (2012) won the Sow’s Ear Poetry Award. Her poems have appeared in The American Scholar, Ars-Medica, The Gettysburg Review, Prairie Schooner, The Southern Review, Verse Daily, Women’s Review of Books and others. Schapiro retired from George Mason University after 17 years working as an Academic Instructor in the Athletic Department. Schapiro earned an MFA from George Mason University and a B.A. in Anthropology from The Colorado College. She was born and raised in St. Louis, MO where her mother was the editor of The Webster Review. She currently lives in Fairfax, VA with her husband Scott Brown. She is a long time volunteer at Food for Others where she currently serves on its Board of Directors.
