Biography
Talia Bloch is the author of the collection Inheritance (Gold Wake Press, 2018). Her poems have appeared in Bellevue Literary Review, Copper Nickel, North American Review, Pleiades, Prairie Schooner, The Southern Review, and elsewhere. She was a finalist in the 2023 National Poetry Series Competition, and her work was selected for Best Small Fictions 2020 as well as an Editor’s Prize for Emerging Poets from Pleiades. Her work was among four poems chosen by Bellevue Literary Review for a 2022 film of poetry, music, and dance, reflecting on illness and recovery, that has received recognition internationally. She has been awarded residencies from the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts in Nebraska City, Nebraska, and from Monson Arts in Monson, Maine. Talia has worked as a literacy teacher, fellowship administrator, translator, editor, and reporter, covering culture and religion, as well as genetics and health for outlets such as Aufbau, The Brooklyn Rail, The Forward, and Tablet Magazine. Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, by immigrant parents, Talia currently resides in Brooklyn, New York, and works as an editor and writer, while delving further into biology and genetics at a local community lab.
