What is the relationship between Judaism and/or Jewish culture and your poetry?

As the son of Holocaust survivors, I carry the burden of not only telling their stories but also of bringing awareness of how the genocide and its ramifications continue to live on in the children and even grandchildren of survivors. Our very existence is a testament to survival, and at the same time we continue to carry the burden of the dead. Having beaten all the odds to be here today, we remain on high alert at all times, continually questioning our environment for possible danger signs that could again metastasize and eventually obliterate us. These fears, this sense of dread, whether suppressed or not, always come through in my poetry.
