What is the relationship between Judaism and/or Jewish culture and your poetry?
Poetry is an extension of self, exploring how we inhabit, engage with, and process the world around us. It is impossible to separate that experience of self from my Jewish identity. Judaism often becomes a lens through which to process the physical and metaphysical in my work. Whether intentionally or unintentionally, my Judaism seeps into my poetry, sometimes it may be a fleeting image or a casual reference, and at other times it may be an entire poem exploring a component of my Jewish observance and culture or the Jewish experience as a whole. Either way, it is always my hope to build bridges and connections, to break down the other and allow for a raw exploration of undeniable truths.
