Biography

emet ezell is a community organizer, public song leader, and poet. emet’s chapbook, BETWEEN EVERY BIRD, OUR BONES, was selected by the poet Chen Chen as the winner of the 2021 Gloria Anzaldúa Poetry Prize. emet’s writing has appeared with Mizna, the Southern Humanities Review, and PM Press. These days, emet is researching queer, spiritual lineage and ancestral ghosts: what’s passed down when there is no down? emet has been awarded a 2022 Vermont Studio Center Fellowship and will be working on their manuscript, ACTS OF DUST. Raised in Texas, emet lives rooted in diaspora, making home between Berlin, Germany and the US South. When they reincarnate, emet hopes to become a bird.
