Biography
Jane rarely refers to herself in the third person singular, although she likes the pronoun we or us, especially since we are a triple gemini, part of an ancient tribe. We do expressive arts therapy, we write and teach. We are very curious—about spirit, nature, what is means to be alive. We kvell in the creative process. We received of the Charlotte Newberger Award (Lilith Magazine) in 2011—judged by the beloved Alicia Ostriker. It has been all downhill from there—although in gratitude there have recent recognitions for The Reuben Rose Competition (Israel), Kakalak (NC), and elsewhere. A wonderful part of life is exploring poetry, creative nonfiction and literature with vibrant seniors at The Osher Institute at Duke University, Writers in the Mountains and elsewhere. We love nature; hold all life sacred. We are quite verklempt when we behold (daily) the small creatures and then consider the big picture. We often meditate on the image of fitting the collective ego of men inside an acorn. Although at times we love to see our work as part of a flock, we have not found sufficient reason that our poems should become a book–if it means taking the life of a tree. (We realize to some this is very important and respect their wishes.)
