Biography
Ronit Shachar writes on a variety of subjects. Her first book was mainly about her experience growing up as an abused child due to the Holocaust. She is a second generation to the Holocaust. Her second book is coming this summer at Pardes publisher. Her poems were published in many important magazines in Israel, including an anthology of feminine poetry against the war, an anthology about sport and much more. She received an honorable mention for the Pesach Meilin Prize for a collection of forty of her poems. Many of her short stories were published in the Israeli newspaper Yediot Aharonot America. Her first book of poems was published by Am Oved in January 2017 and was funded by Mifal Hapayis (The Israeli lottery). Her poems were published in Mantis, the literature magazine of Stanford University.
She was also one of the founders of the Tel Aviv-Jaffa Democratic Open School for Jewish and Muslim kids, where she taught art. She later continued teaching art at the Tel Aviv Municipal High School Ironi Yud Alef.
