Biography
Cantor Rabbi Jacqueline Marx is founder and co-spiritual leader of Oranim NC, a new Jewish community in North Carolina. She earned her Simcha from pluralistic Rabbinical seminary (post-denominational) and Cantorial ordination from Hebrew Union College school of sacred music, which awarded her a Doctor of Music Honoris Causa in 2022. Cantor Rabbi Marx freelances as Rabbi in Residence at Temple Emanuel Gastonia North Carolina and as high Holy Days’ spiritual leader at B’nai Sholom synagogue in Blountville, Tennessee. Cantor Rabbi Jacquie considers the welcome and welfare of all souls to be her calling. She lives with her family in an enchanted forest outside Chapel Hill. Her proudest moment as a Rabbi came while speaking at the North Carolina Capitol and Raleigh in January 2025 to protest election corruption that would’ve overturned the votes of 5000 registered North Carolina’s, including her own child. What is the relationship between Judaism and/or Jewish culture and your poetry?
This journey is at its beginning, but it flows into me like a river and inspires me to express myself in a whole new flavor. I want to lean into it to see where this delicious river goes.
